Lucknow: Asserting that the Rajya Sabha elections have foreshadowed the outcome of the 2027 assembly elections, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that the upcoming poll battle has once again become an ‘80-20’ contest, with “80% belonging to the NDA and 20% to the PDA”.In a swipe at Samajwadi Party’s PDA outreach strategy, Yogi said the fate of the PDA would become evident in due course.“The Rajya Sabha election (nominations) in Uttar Pradesh showed what the result of the assembly election is going to be. The 80 versus 20 fight has returned. Eighty per cent is with the NDA and 20 per cent with the PDA, and what is going to happen to the PDA will again be before you,” Yogi said.Speaking at ‘Seva Jyoti Yatra: Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha’ at Patel Park, organised in Lucknow to mark 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public life, he described PM as a grassroots worker and RSS volunteer who gave India a new global identity.PM Modi and BJP national president Nitin Nabin also addressed the gathering virtually.Praising Modi’s journey from a small village in Gujarat to the country’s highest office, Yogi said he took charge during a period marked by natural disaster, uncertainty and attempts by anti-social and anti-national forces to create disorder but transformed Gujarat into a model state.Highlighting Narendra Modi govt’s achievements over the past 12 years, the CM said India had emerged as a strong and self-confident nation under his leadership. He credited Modi with building a “New India” by empowering citizens, enhancing opportunities for youth, improving women’s safety, strengthening farmers and creating employment avenues.Yogi said India, once counted among the world’s weakest economies with low per capita income, had risen into the top five economies globally. He pointed to the growth of the startup ecosystem, which now boasts of more than 2.5 lakh startups, and said programmes such as Mission Rozgar had expanded avenues for jobs, employment and self-employment.He also underlined major improvements in infrastructure, citing railway electrification, dedicated freight corridors, highways and expressways.Contrasting the present with the past, he said: “Uttar Pradesh has moved from a ‘one district, one mafia’ culture to initiatives such as ‘one district, one medical college’, ‘one district, one product’ and ‘one district, one cuisine’.”Yogi said Jan Dhan accounts and Digital India enabled transparent delivery of benefits through Direct Benefit Transfer, ensuring that funds reached women, farmers, youth and labourers directly. He highlighted free ration distribution to 80 crore beneficiaries, LPG connections, defence exports, inland waterways and expansion of healthcare and educational institutions.“India has transformed from a defence importer into an exporter,” he said.Referring to healthcare infrastructure, Yogi noted that while AIIMS was once limited to Delhi, the number had now expanded to 23.The event concluded with Modi administering a virtual pledge for ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’. BJP functionaries later handed over a ceremonial torch to Yogi before Seva Jyoti Yatra proceeded on its onward journey.
