Warring demands Mann’s apology over ‘staged’ I-Day dance performance
Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring

Chandigarh: Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Monday demanded an apology from chief minister Bhagwant Mann, alleging that the state govt misled the people on Independence Day by staging a dance performance featuring former employees, presented as beneficiaries whose knees had been replaced under a health insurance scheme.Warring also demanded the resignation of health minister Dr Balbir Singh and strict action against the officials involved in what he described as an attempt to mislead the people of Punjab and the country.Referring to the dance performance by people presented as having undergone knee replacement, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief said it reflected the AAP govt’s “tendency to rely on drama and theatrics”.He claimed it was difficult to believe that people who had recently undergone knee replacement surgery could dance in the manner shown at the event. The Ludhiana MP said the truth emerged quickly when one of the participants allegedly revealed that he was a former employee and had been asked to perform on the occasion.Warring reminded Mann that as the chief minister of Punjab, he should refrain from such theatrics. He said that while making false claims has become a characteristic of the AAP, staging such an event on Independence Day amounted to disrespecting the occasion’s significance.
