The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has rejected candidates’ requests to revise UPTET 2026 scores on grounds including incorrect OMR entries, normalisation of marks, and marks calculated on the basis of the answer key. The decision follows an examination of representations received after the UPTET result was declared on August 26, 2026.The Commission has, however, opened the door for qualified candidates to seek corrections in certain details mentioned on their eligibility certificates.
UPTET 2026: UPESSC rejects requests over OMR errors
The Commission has placed representations related to OMR sheets in the first category. Candidates had sought changes in their scores citing mistakes while filling details such as the roll number and question booklet number on the OMR sheet. UPESSC said the examination instructions had clearly specified the procedure for filling these details.Since OMR sheets are evaluated through an automated system, an incorrectly filled or blank bubble can affect the evaluation. The Commission has therefore rejected requests for score revision on this ground, holding candidates responsible for correctly marking the required information.
Normalisation-related complaints not accepted
The second category covers objections to the normalisation process. UPTET 2026 was conducted over three days and in five shifts. The result was therefore prepared using the normalisation procedure prescribed in the examination notification for comparative evaluation across different shifts.According to the Commission, the process uses a scientific formula and specialised software for calculating comparable scores. Representations seeking changes in marks because of normalisation have not been accepted.This also includes complaints from candidates who said their marks decreased after normalisation. The Commission has maintained that such requests cannot be entertained.
Marks based on answer key will not be revised
The third category relates to representations against marks calculated on the basis of the answer key.The Commission has rejected requests seeking changes in scores on this ground as well. Therefore, candidates cannot seek a revision of their UPTET 2026 marks merely because they disagree with the marks calculated using the applicable answer key.The decision follows scrutiny of representations by a committee constituted by UPESSC after the declaration of the result.
Qualified candidates can correct certificate details
There is some relief for candidates who have qualified UPTET 2026. UPESSC has decided to allow online correction of certain errors in the certificates of successful candidates. The permitted corrections cover:
- Candidate’s name
- Father’s name
- Husband’s name
- Date of birth
- Category/class
Candidates will have to submit the corrected details through the Commission’s online portal. The correction facility is meant for errors in certificate details and does not provide a route for changing examination marks.
UPTET 2026 result: Nearly 20 lakh candidates appeared
The UPTET 2026 examination was held on July 2, 3 and 4, marking the return of the teacher eligibility test after a gap of five years. The result was announced on August 26.According to the results, 1,994,661 candidates appeared for the examination. At the primary level, 571,435 of 713,648 candidates qualified, recording an 80.07% qualification rate. At the upper-primary level, 759,513 of 1,057,021 candidates qualified, with a qualification rate of 71.85%.With its latest decision, UPESSC has effectively closed requests seeking changes to scores on OMR, normalization, and answer-key grounds, while retaining a correction route for specified errors in the certificates of successful candidates.
