Ara: On the instructions of Bhojpur SP Awadhesh Kumar Dixit, six new town outposts (TOPs) have been set up in and around Ara to increase police visibility and improve crime control in the urban areas of Bhojpur district.The TOPs started functioning on Sunday evening. Six new TOPs launched in Bhojpur for crime control, followed by Anaith TOP with 11 localities. Dharhara TOP, located on the Ara-Patna road, will cover nine colonies, while Gangi TOP will cover five, Jamira six and Distance TOP four localities.In a statement, Bhojpur police said the new outposts had been established at important locations to strengthen policing and crime control in urban areas. Adequate numbers of police officers and personnel have been deployed at the TOPs.The police said the personnel would focus on preventing incidents of loot, snatching and vehicle theft, as well as the smuggling of illicit drugs, arms, liquor and other contraband. The SP has also directed police to keep a watch on anti-social elements and gambling activities.To improve police response time, the SP has instructed personnel posted at the TOPs to reach crime or accident spots within five to 10 minutes of receiving information from the public and immediately inform the parent police station and senior officers.According to Bhojpur police, the TOPs will be manned by sub-inspectors, assistant sub-inspectors and other police personnel.
