Shah inaugurates NDRF regional response centre in Doon
Shah also laid the foundation stones for six more RRCs across the country

Dehradun: Union home minister Amit Shah on Thursday inaugurated a Regional Response Centre (RRC) of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in Dehradun. The inauguration was part of a programme held at NDRF’s 8th Battalion campus in Ghaziabad, where Shah also laid the foundation stones for six more RRCs across the country. The Dehradun centre was the only one formally commissioned during the event.“These RRCs will help specialised NDRF teams reach disaster-hit areas quickly and carry out search and rescue operations more efficiently. Since RRCs are strategically located in high-risk regions, they allow faster mobilisation and immediate response during emergencies,” said Sudesh Kumar Drall, commandant of NDRF’s 8th Battalion.NDRF was recently conferred with the President’s Colour Award in recognition of its two decades of service. Since its formation in 2006, the force has carried out over 12,000 rescue operations and saved more than 1.5 lakh lives.
