Retired HSVP official attacked with rods, sticks amid corruption complaint row

Sonipat: A retired junior engineer (JE) of Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) was allegedly attacked with iron rods and sticks outside his home in Sonipat amid a dispute over his complaints of alleged corruption in the department. Police have registered an FIR but made no arrests so far.The complainant, Ramkishan Nagar, state president of HUDA Public Health Union No. 1266, had alleged corruption by some HSVP officials in connivance with contractor Inderjeet Singh. The allegations have not been independently verified.Sonipat ACP Rajdeep Mor said police were examining CCTV footage and other evidence. “Whoever is found guilty during the investigation will be arrested. We will take action and make arrests as soon as possible,” he said.Sector 27 police station in-charge inspector Savit said the FIR was registered on Aug 18 under various provisions of the BNS and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. As the SC/ST Act has been invoked, a gazetted officer will conduct the investigation.Nagar alleged that he was assaulted at the HSVP office on Aug 11 after he and union members joined a protest over corruption complaints. He said he suffered a fracture in his right hand and complained to police the same day.He alleged that on Aug 17, Inderjeet and others arrived in a car outside his Sector 12 home and attacked him with rods and sticks. His son intervened, following which the attackers allegedly fled.A video purportedly showing the assault has surfaced, but its contents and the identities of those seen in it have not been independently verified.Nagar was admitted to a govt hospital, where his medico-legal report recorded four blunt injuries. He has sought strict action and protection for his family.
