Man booked for setting car on fire

Surat: Utran police have booked a man for allegedly setting fire to an SUV belonging to a friend of a rental car company owner after the owner refused to prhis vehicle on rent.According to the FIR, the accused, Deep Dobariya, had first allegedly assaulted rental car business owner Miraj Viradiya along with his associates after Viradiya refused to rent out his SUV. Three days later, Dobariya allegedly sent a man to set fire to a car belonging to Viradiya’s friend.Viradiya runs a rental car business with his partner, Herish Pansuriya. According to the complaint, Dobariya had approached Viradiya a few days earlier seeking an SUV on rent. Viradiya said he checked Dobariya’s credentials with other rental car operators and received negative feedback. He therefore declined to rent out his vehicle.Police said that on Sep 9, Dobariya and his associates allegedly assaulted Viradiya over the refusal. On Sep 12, Dobariya allegedly sent another person to set fire to an SUV belonging to Viradiya’s friend.After the incident, Dobariya allegedly called Viradiya and threatened to kill him by setting him on fire, according to the FIR.
