Kolkata: Make-up guild secretary Bapi Malakar, who was named in a plaint by an assistant make-up artist, was arrested on Thursday. This sent further ripples in Tollywood after the complainant took to FB to announce that she wanted to get “arrested” since she deserved punishment.Some months back, the 42-year-old assistant make-up artist and a resident of Regent Park, had filed the primary complaint. Though the complainant had later retracted her statement against ex-federation president Swarup Biswas, cops had clarified that the probe would continue “unhindered.” According to the complaint, on Aug 20 last year she had come to Suruchi Sangha to meet Biswas for work when the FIR accused asked for money and threatened her that if she did not give money she would not get work. On April 4, she again approached the accused who told her if she wanted to work she had to sexually compromise with them. The complaint said when she refused, the accused tried to kill her using arms at her home on April 10. On Friday, the complainant took to FB Live to say: “I deserve to be punished and hence I am going to the PS to get myself arrested.” Golf Green PS was approached by the complainant on Friday. Officers later assured her a fair probe.Kolkata Police stated that it has arrested Malakar from the guild office in Tollygunge on Thursday in relation to case number 88 of New Alipore PS where Malakar is a FIR-named accused along with Biswas. While Biswas was arrested earlier and is now on bail, Malakar was questioned where he reportedly evaded answers. The accused was produced at Alipore Police Court on Friday with cops seeking his police custody.
