Raipur: Commuters travelling between Bemetara and Mungeli districts can expect a smoother ride in the coming months, with the Chhattisgarh govt approving ₹21.81 crore for widening the Nandghat-Mungeli road into a four-lane corridor.The sanctioned amount will be used to upgrade the 36.4-km two-lane stretch connecting Nandghat in Bemetara district with the Mungeli district headquarters. The approval was cleared by public works minister Arun Sao, following which the Public Works Department (PWD) issued the sanction order to the chief engineer.The road widening is expected to improve connectivity between the two districts and ease traffic on the busy route.The department has asked the executing agency to complete the project within the contractual deadline and avoid seeking unnecessary extensions. It said additional time would be granted only in exceptional circumstances beyond the agency’s control, while delays would attract penalties as per the contract terms.
