GURGAON: The hunt for Kalyan Singh, the man allegedly driving the car involved in the viral hit-and-run incident with woman biker Sia on Gurgaon’s Golf Course Road, has intensified after the vehicle owner told police and the media that his friend had borrowed the car two days before the crash and has since become unreachable.The incident took place on Sunday when Sia was riding her Aprilia RS 457 sports bike with a group of bikers from Golf Course Road towards Bikerburns. In a video recorded on an action camera mounted on her motorcycle, Sia alleged that a car repeatedly followed her before hitting her bike and fleeing the spot.The footage appears to show the car coming into contact with her motorcycle, knocking her off the bike and dragging it for several metres before speeding away.Sia had alleged that the occupants of the car appeared to be intoxicated and that the driver repeatedly asked her to stop despite her asking him to maintain a safe distance. She said she continued riding ahead because she felt the situation was unsafe.After the collision, one of her friends reportedly chased the car and confronted the driver at a traffic signal. According to Sia, the driver denied responsibility and drove away.The car was later traced to its owner, identified as Manish. Speaking to ANI, Manish said the vehicle belonged to him but had been borrowed by his friend Kalyan Singh, who told him he needed the car to go somewhere.“It is my vehicle. I was at work; a friend had borrowed my car. Kalyan Singh said he needed to go somewhere. He took it two days ago. I found out about the accident this morning,” Manish said.Manish said he tried calling Singh after learning about the incident, but Singh did not answer. He subsequently sent his father and others to Singh’s house. Manish said Singh was from Haryana’s Palwal district and added that he works in the Army.Meanwhile, Gurgaon Police has taken suo motu cognisance of the viral video and is registering a case at Sector 56 police station. Police said the accused would be identified and arrested at the earliest and strict legal action would be taken against all those found involved.Sia has said she will file an FIR with her lawyer and pursue legal action. She has also made it clear that she will not give media interviews or reveal her face, choosing to communicate through Instagram instead.
