After weeks of handling student and political protests, Delhi Police faced an unusual situation: its own personnel gathering outside its headquarters to demand the reversal of two officers’ transfers.

On Monday, videos surfaced on social media showing Delhi Police personnel protesting outside their headquarters near Connaught Place. Their main demand was that two transferred officers be returned to their previous posts. Delhi Police, however, described the gathering as a ‘sampark sabha’, or an interaction between personnel and senior officers.
The two officers — Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Manasvi Vashistha and Shahdara Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Arun Kumar — had been transferred after a confrontation between police personnel and lawyers at Shahdara police station in northeast Delhi.
