The death by suicide of a second-year student in the prestigious IIT-Bombay campus has raised questions regarding caste-based harassment, the institute’s handling of the incident and its policy to prevent such deaths.
A professor has been booked for allegedly targeting the student over his caste, the institute has apologised over issuing of an insensitive press release and protesting students have questioned the institute’s handling of such cases.
