Madhumitha is now being widely discussed online, but not because of one of her usual YouTube videos.The Coimbatore-based YouTuber has reportedly lost 118 sovereigns of gold jewellery after burglars broke into her home in Nagercoil. The stolen jewellery is estimated to be worth around ₹1 crore.What has made the case particularly intriguing online is Madhumitha’s own social media presence. She has shared videos showing her gold jewellery, purchases and glimpses of the family’s wealth. After the burglary came to light, some of those old videos started making the rounds again.
Who is Madhumitha?
Madhumitha is a YouTuber from Coimbatore who posts lifestyle content. Her videos include family moments, gold purchases, jewellery and other parts of her personal life.She and her husband, Vinoth Kumar, a businessman from Sivakasi, reportedly moved to Thammathu Konam near Nagercoil around 10 months ago after buying a house there.Over time, Madhumitha has also shared videos featuring the family’s gold ornaments and cash. One of the clips now being discussed online reportedly showed gold kept in their pooja room.And that has led to plenty of reactions on social media after the burglary.
What happened at Madhumitha’s house?
According to the police, Madhumitha and her husband left home around 5 pm on Thursday. They returned at about 11.50 pm but couldn’t get the front door open.A carpenter was called in and arrived around 12.45 am. That’s when they reportedly noticed that although the front door was locked from inside, the back door had been broken open.The couple then checked the house and found that the gold ornaments kept inside a bureau were missing. They contacted the Rajakkamangalam police.Police said 118 sovereigns of gold jewellery had been stolen.Senior officers, including SP Anshul Nagar, visited the house on Friday morning. Six special teams have reportedly been formed to track down the burglars, while CCTV footage from the area is being checked.
Why are her old videos being shared again?
That’s where the social media angle comes in.After news of the theft spread, users began reposting clips from Madhumitha’s older videos in which she can be seen showing gold jewellery and other valuables.Some users have criticised her for displaying expensive possessions online, with comments suggesting that such content could potentially attract unwanted attention.But there is no police confirmation so far that the burglars found the house through Madhumitha’s social media posts or that her videos were connected to the theft.For now, that remains an online theory. The police investigation is still underway.The focus is on finding the people who broke into the house, while CCTV footage and other evidence are being examined.
