Vijayawada: The University of Western Australia (UWA), ranked 77th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2026, on Saturday announced a strategic partnership with Vivenns Group to establish an education and innovation hub in Amaravati, with a temporary campus expected to begin operations in Oct. The collaboration will focus on industry-linked education, research, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, renewable energy, health sciences and workforce development.The partnership forms part of UWA’s five-year collaboration with Vivenns under its India hub-and-spoke model. While UWA is setting up wholly owned campuses in Mumbai and Chennai under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Amaravati will serve as one of its first strategic regional hubs connecting academia, industry and government.Vivenns Group president Arjun Surapaneni said the company would invest AUD 100 million in the first phase of Amaravati Education City, with total investments projected to reach AUD 350 million over seven years. He said the project would house international universities, schools, skill centres and research facilities with a strong emphasis on employability and industry partnerships.Speaking at the roundtable, UWA deputy vice-chancellor (global engagement) Prof Jennifer Howell said the university’s collaboration with industry partners, including HCLTech, would offer students hackathons, internships and joint certificate programmes in AI and cybersecurity, besides establishing specialised research facilities.Australian assistant minister for International Education Julian Hill said Andhra Pradesh’s vision for higher education aligns with Australia’s efforts to expand transnational education. He said success would be measured not by student numbers alone but by graduate employability, research outcomes and industry collaboration.The five-year MoU also envisages joint academic programmes, professional education, knowledge exchange and research in audiology, quantum technologies, biodesign and renewable energy, while strengthening links between universities and industry.
