The mythological epic starring Matt Damon in the lead, witnessed good growth on its second Sunday, comfortably crossing the Rs 140 crore gross milestone, thus cementing its position among the country’s highest-grossing Hollywood releases. According to early estimates on Sacnilk, ‘The Odyssey’ collected Rs 11.45 crore net on Day 10 across 4,638 shows, marking a 3.6 per cent increase over Saturday’s Rs 11.05 crore net collection. With the inclusion of Friday’s Rs 6.85 crore, the film managed to rake in an estimated Rs 29.35 crore on its second weekend. This is nearly a 50 percent drop in the film’s first weekend collections. By the end of its first week at the box office, the film earned an estimated Rs 90.30 crore net collection.With the latest numbers, the film’s total India net collection now stands at an estimated Rs 119.65 crore, while its India gross collection has climbed to Rs 142.86 crore.

‘The Odyssey’ English version continues to dominate

The English-language version remained the film’s biggest contributor during its second weekend, collecting an estimated Rs 9.75 crore on Sunday. The Hindi dubbed version also registered healthy growth, contributing approximately Rs 1.40 crore, while the Tamil and Telugu versions earned an estimated Rs 10 lakh and Rs 20 lakh, respectively.

The film is set to face stiff competition from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, which is already rewriting advance booking records in India.The Tom Holland-starrer has reportedly amassed an estimated Rs 25 crore gross through advance bookings for its opening day alone. Industry estimates suggest the film’s final pre-sales could climb as high as Rs 35 crore gross, setting the stage for one of the biggest Hollywood openings ever witnessed in the country.As per reports on Sacnilk, the film could earn close to Rs 50 crore gross on its opening day despite releasing on a working Thursday, a huge feat for a Hollywood title in India.
