Dehradun: Uttarakhand Police’s Special Task Force (STF) and state cyber cell have arrested a 45-year-old man from Sangli district in Maharashtra for his alleged involvement in a cyber fraud case involving Rs 85 lakh, registered in Dehradun in 2024.
The accused, identified as Yasin Yusuf, was arrested during the investigation into a case in which a Dehradun resident was allegedly duped on the pretext of earning high returns through online commodities trading. STF SSP Ajai Singh said, “We found that nearly Rs 29 lakh of the defrauded amount had been transferred to a bank account linked to Yusuf.”
An STF team traced and arrested him in Maharashtra with the help of the state police. “Police had served Yusuf a notice asking him to appear before the STF in Dehradun for questioning, but he did not turn up. Further investigation is under way to arrest others involved in the fraud,” Singh said.
