Speaking to People magazine, Steffi Graf explained why the couple avoids facing each other during pickleball games. She said, “We don’t play against each other. We prefer to be on the same side of the court.”The former tennis star also shared how pickleball became a big part of their routine after retirement. “Andre still plays tennis, but I don’t much anymore,” Graf said. “We really liked learning a new sport during the pandemic and meeting new friends through pickleball.”Both athletes had legendary tennis careers before stepping away from the sport. Graf won 22 Grand Slam singles titles and became one of the most successful women’s players in history. Agassi, meanwhile, won eight Grand Slam titles and completed a career Grand Slam. Graf retired in 1999, while Agassi left professional tennis in 2006.Their relationship first began years earlier at Wimbledon in 1992 when both won singles titles at the tournament. However, they did not start dating until 1999. The couple later married in a private ceremony at their Las Vegas home in 2001, with only their mothers attending as witnesses.Before marrying Graf, Agassi was married to Brooke Shields from 1997 to 1999. In an interview with The Cut in 2014, Agassi admitted he admired Graf long before they became a couple. He said he used to “marvel at her” from afar during their tennis careers.Shields also spoke about her marriage to Agassi in interviews over the years. Speaking to AARP: The Magazine in 2024, she explained how different their public lives felt together because of Agassi’s worldwide fame.
