August marks Saif Ali Khan’s birthday month, and the actor is reflecting on how his relationship with birthdays has changed over the years. As he prepares to celebrate his birthday on August 16, Saif revealed that lavish parties no longer interest him. Instead, he now prefers spending the occasion quietly with his family, valuing meaningful moments over grand celebrations.The actor, known for films such as ‘Kartavya’, spoke to Variety India about how his perspective on birthdays has evolved over the years. Instead of hosting large gatherings, he now enjoys spending the day in a relaxed setting with his wife and children.
Quiet celebrations have become his preference
Reflecting on earlier years, Saif recalled that his birthday often coincided with his summer vacations, making celebrations more convenient.“My birthday is usually at the end of a summer holiday,” Khan says. “There was a time when it would be in the middle of a holiday, which made it easier to celebrate. I have had some great dinners in houses we have rented, holiday homes, in Pataudi and in Mumbai.”He admitted that birthdays no longer generate the same excitement they once did.“I have stopped getting excited about birthdays. I do find it slightly childish when someone says, ‘It’s my birthday, I’m having a party, please come.’ Someone else should do that for you.”Sharing what he enjoys instead, the actor added, “I have spent a lot of birthdays alone with the kids and my wife, cooking something in the kitchen, having a glass of wine.”
Travel plans may replace birthday festivities
Since this year’s birthday falls toward the end of the summer holidays, Saif believes he may spend the day in transit rather than celebrating.“As usual, I might be on a plane coming back and doing nothing. There will be enough of a celebration before and after, so it’s not important anymore to do anything on that particular day,” he says.After spending more than three decades in the film industry, the actor appears to value peaceful family time over grand occasions, making birthdays less about parties and more about meaningful personal moments.
