Hum Paanch, Ishq Mein Ghayal, and Pyaar Ka Pehla Naam Radha Mohan actor Roma Navani is busy with her play along side Rakesh Bedi. Having spent over three decades in the industry she understands that friendship actually doesn’t mean having a large group of people. For her, the number of people around her has never mattered as much as who they are.“I’ve always believed in quality over quantity. I may know a lot of people, but my inner circle is very small and very precious to me,” she said. That belief has only deepened with time. “Over the years, I’ve realised that true friendship is not about how many people you have around you, but about having those few people who know the real you, understand your silences and celebrate your happiness as if it were their own,” she said. She also opened up about the friends who held her steady through the harder chapters of her life and career. “I’ve been lucky to have friends who have stood by me during some very challenging phases of my life,” she said.It wasn’t grand gestures that stayed with her, she says, but simple presence. “What I’ll always remember is their presence. They didn’t necessarily have to say or do anything extraordinary. They were simply there, sometimes with a phone call, sometimes with a hug, and sometimes just by listening,” she said. For Roma, that presence is what friendship ultimately comes down to. “I think the most beautiful thing a friend can give you during a difficult time is the feeling that you’re not alone,” she said.Speaking on how she nurtures her longest bonds despite a hectic schedule, she credits honesty above everything else. “I have a few friends who have known me for many, many years, and they have literally seen me evolve through every chapter of my life. I think the secret is honesty, acceptance and absolutely no pretence,” she said. What makes those relationships last, she believes, is that they existed before fame did. “There is something incredibly special about people who have known you before the spotlight and continue to love you for exactly who you are,” she said.
