Hazaribag: Marking the 165th birth anniversary of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore, Vinoba Bhave University vice-chancellor Chandra Bhushan Sharma on Friday unveiled his life-size sculpture at Annada College, Hazaribag, during a function.Praising the initiative, Sharma lauded Annada College principal Nilmani Mukherjee and secretary Dr Sajal Mukherjee for the installation. “Tagore is remembered through his drama, music and his thoughts,” he said adding that such a programme should also have been held on the university campus so more students could learn about Tagore.Sharma said Tagore was known worldwide not only as a poet but also as a philosopher. Sharma advised the college principal to take students from Annada College and the university to Shantiniketan to deepen their understanding of Tagore’s contribution to art, literature and music.Former commerce student Mantu Kumar Prajapati, now a noted sculptor, was felicitated for creating the fibre sculpture in one month.
