Bhopal/Jabalpur: A division bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court was informed on Tuesday that the two girls from Pune, who were taken into custody from Itarsi railway station while they were heading for the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Oct 10, have been sent back home. The girls were picked up by GRP personnel after they had boarded the train to the national capital. The bench had assembled for a hearing on a habeas corpus petition by the girl’s families. At an earlier hearing on the plea on Thursday of last week, the bench, led by Chief Justice Alpesh Yashvant Kogje, directed the police to produce the girls in court at the next hearing. However, at the hearing on Tuesday, counsel for the state govt apprised the bench that all the girls going to Delhi from Pune by Goa Express to participate in the CJP protest, including the two in question, have been sent back home. The petitioners, Vishakha Prashant Lodhe and Shardul Jitendra Buwa, stated in the plea that the siblings were part of a group of about half-a-dozen girls travelling by the Goa Express to Delhi, adding that they were forced to alight the train at Itarsi on Thursday evening. The petitioners alleged that the girls were held hostage by the GRP, adding that their mobile phones, along with those of all others in the group, were confiscated. They claimed despite getting in touch with the officials concerned, no meeting or call was arranged with the girls. The families claimed they had no clarity if the girls had been taken into custody, and, if so, where they’re being held. Taking up the plea, the bench directed that the girls be produced in court on Oct 13, while sending notices to respondents in the case, seeking their response.
