HINGOLI: A 50-year-old Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) allegedly died by suicide after jumping in front of a moving train on the outskirts of Hingoli town in Maharashtra on Saturday morning, police said.The deceased has been identified as Amol Vithalrao Gangalwad, who was posted at the Hingoli police control room.According to police, the incident took place at around 8.30 am near the Khatkali bypass area. Gangalwad, who was reportedly dressed in his official uniform, jumped in front of an Akola-bound passenger train coming from Purna.The locomotive pilot immediately alerted railway authorities, who informed the local police. Senior police officers and personnel from Hingoli City police station rushed to the spot and carried out a panchanama.Police have registered a case of accidental death and launched an investigation into the matter.Officials said Gangalwad had been transferred from Parbhani to the Hingoli Police Control Room a couple of months ago.The exact motive behind the extreme step is yet to be ascertained, as no suicide note was recovered from the spot, police added.(With Agency Inputs)
