Probe into alleged assault on momo vendor during clearance drive

Jaipur: City police have launched an investigation, Tuesday, after Reshu, a woman operating a momo cart, alleged that a police officer overturned her cart during a roadside clearance drive. Following the action, she suffered burn injuries after boiling water spilled over her.The incident occurred on June 19 under the Ramnagariya police station area and an FIR was lodged regarding the matter Monday by Reshu’s sister.According to police, officers were clearing roadside vendors and carts from Mahal Road in Jagatpura ahead of the scheduled movement of the Chief Minister’s convoy. Officials said an argument broke out between the vendor and the personnel during this process.According to the complaint, when police ordered Reshu to remove her cart immediately, she requested a few moments to clear the area, noting that the boiling water posed a safety risk. The personnel allegedly pushed the cart backward, causing the hot water to spill on her. Reshu sustained burn injuries to her shoulder, chest, thigh, and other parts of her body.“The matter is under investigation. We are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area,” a police spokesperson said.
