Probe after objectionable posters targeting PM found near Dhanbad college

Dhanbad: Police have launched an investigation after posters containing allegedly objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and an illustration resembling an AK-47 rifle were found pasted on a municipal shelter near SSLNT Women’s College Road.ABVP members removed the posters and lodged a written complaint with Dhanbad police station, seeking identification of those responsible and legal action against them.ABVP member Anshu Tiwari said its members reached the spot after being alerted about the posters. He said they would also check college campuses and other public places in the city for similar material.Some ABVP members alleged that criminal elements were behind the incident and suspected links to a political outfit. Police, however, have not confirmed the involvement of any person or organisation.Dhanbad police station officer in-charge Manoj Pandey said police had received the complaint and would examine CCTV footage from the area to identify those who put up the posters. Further action would be taken on the basis of the investigation, he added.Dhanbad MLA Raj Sinha also sought a thorough investigation and strict action against those responsible. He alleged that the posters were intended to malign the PM’s image among students.
