Bhubaneswar: Crime Branch that is probing the alleged lynching of railway constable Soumya Ranjan Swain in Balianta on May 7, is planning to conduct a polygraph test on the woman whose allegation of sexual assault against him triggered the alleged mob fury. “Swain’s family alleged that the woman made false allegations and hatched a conspiracy to kill him. Based on her allegations, we will approach the court seeking permission for her polygraph test. The test can be conducted only if she gives her consent,” a senior crime branch officer said.Swain was riding pillion on his friend Om Prakash Rout’s motorcycle when the two-wheeler allegedly collided with a scooter carrying the 22-year-old woman and another woman. The woman, who was riding pillion, alleged that after she fell from the scooter, Swain assaulted and sexually abused her.
