NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi gained around 1 million Instagram followers overnight after he released his selfie video on Thursday night addressing concerns of the NEET paper leak.Currently PM Modi has 102 million followers on Instagram. His video captioned: “More strict actions against paper leaks to come in tomorrow’s Cabinet!” has garnered 271 million views so far along with 15 million likes and 1.3 million comments on Instagram. In the video, he announced that the government would introduce tougher measures to tackle examination paper leaks. He also informed about the Union Cabinet meeting agenda held on Friday.“I know that paper leak is not an ordinary issue. It is very painful for lakh of students and their guardians,” he said.“Numerous effective measures have been taken in the past two and a half months since the paper leak incident. The culprits have been caught and are in jail. Our most important responsibility was to ensure that students’ year is not wasted. The government used all its might to ensure that 22 lakh students could take their exams in the shortest possible time,” he added.The Union Cabinet on Friday cleared amendments to the anti-paper leak law, proposing stricter punishment for those involved in examination paper leaks. Sources said the revised law prescribes up to 10 years in prison and a fine of as much as Rs 10 crore, while raising the minimum jail term from three years to five years.
