However, in a surprising turn of events, after more than a decade, Anup Soni has been replaced by Bollywood star Ajay Devgn. Reflecting on this change, Anup Soni shared the sweetest message. He commented on the show’s legacy and said that no matter what, he will always be remembered for ‘Crime Patrol.’

Anup Soni gave several precious years of his life to the show, and in return, the true-crime drama also helped him garner love and fame. The actor acknowledged the gift the show bestowed upon him and told ANI, “Until something bigger than Crime Patrol comes along in my career, no matter how much other work I do, people will continue to remember me for Crime Patrol.”“Before Crime Patrol happened, people used to recognise me for Balika Vadhu. But when Crime Patrol came along, people forgot about Balika Vadhu. “Since these things are popular, as an actor, instead of running away from them, you should accept them,” Anup Soni added.

About ‘Crime Patrol’ and Ajay Devgn joining the show

Presenting the fictional depiction of true crimes, ‘Crime Patrol’ first aired in 2003. The first host of the show was Diwakar Pundir, who was replaced by Shakti Anand in 2004. The show saw a hiatus in 2006 but was revived in 2010. In that year, Anup Soni and Sakshi Tanwar donned the hat of the hosts. A year later, from 2011, Anup continued to be the solo host of the show, and it went on till 2018. Since then, various seasons have been hosted by Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya, Sonali Kulkarni, Ashutosh Rana, and Sanjeev Tyagi.Now, coming to the latest season, set to premiere on August 31, 2026, the first promo of ‘Crime Patrol’ was released earlier this week. It featured Ajay Devgn as the host, explaining how in most of the crime cases, the abuser is someone known to the victim.
