Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, is asking a judge to let him remove the ankle monitor he has been wearing as part of his probation. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, his lawyer said the device has caused serious skin irritation, leaving his lower leg swollen and discolored. The filing also says Mahomes Sr. tried using a skin cream, but it did not improve the condition. His request comes after he completed extra testing ordered by his probation officer, including a voluntary hair-follicle test and a blood test, both of which he passed.

The request is linked to the conditions of Patrick Mahomes Sr.’s probation. The former Major League Baseball pitcher was arrested for driving while intoxicated in February 2024. He later accepted a plea deal after admitting to his third DWI charge. Under that agreement, he received five years of probation, including one year of intensive supervision, and was required to wear an alcohol-monitoring ankle device.According to TMZ, Mahomes Sr.’s attorney told the court the monitor has caused ongoing medical problems. The filing says his lower leg became swollen and discolored, and even after applying a cream, the irritation did not go away. At one point, the monitor was moved to his other ankle, but the same problem happened there as well.The court filing also includes a doctor’s note supporting the request. Mahomes Sr.’s probation officer reportedly confirmed that he personally saw the swelling. Before considering the request, the officer asked Mahomes Sr. to take a voluntary hair-follicle test and a blood test. Court records say he passed both tests.

The 55-year-old played 11 seasons in Major League Baseball, mostly as a relief pitcher, and finished with a 5.34 ERA.
