A robot waiter has joined the staff.At Resham Dhaba, customers are being served by a robot that carries food from the kitchen straight to their tables. And, naturally, people aren’t just eating. They’re pulling out their phones to record it.
Robot waiter becomes the star of the dhaba
The robot has quickly become something of an attraction at the restaurant.Children seem particularly fascinated by it, with many taking selfies and videos as the machine moves around the dining area.The setup is fairly simple. Once an order is ready, staff place the food tray on the robot. It then follows a set route to reach the customer’s table.And if something goes wrong, staff can take control using a remote.The robot itself looks like something you’d expect to see in a tech exhibition rather than a roadside dhaba. Its fibre body has LED lights, including glowing red lights around its eyes.According to the restaurant, the machine can run for around two hours on a full charge. Customers also don’t have to pay anything extra for robot-delivered food.
Why did the dhaba bring in a robot?
According to Resham Dhaba manager Sanjay Rana, the robot was developed by a team from Bengaluru.The idea was pretty simple: give people visiting Murthal something they don’t normally expect to see at a dhaba.And with more than 50 dhabas reportedly operating in the area, a robot waiter is certainly one way to stand out.Rana said customers have been excited about the addition, with children especially eager to see the machine in action. Some are even bringing their families along after seeing it.
