Palamu man axed to death by father-in-law in Bhikhee village

Daltonganj: A 40-year-old man of Bhikhee village in Palamu was axed to death allegedly by his father-in-law on Saturday night, police said.The deceased has been identified as Gandhi Bhuiyan, a daily wager, and the accused as Jagdev Bhuiyan, police added.Officer in-charge of the Chhaterpur police station Saurav Choubey said, “Villagers informed police on Sunday morning about a body lying in a maize field. Gandhi’s head bore blunt and deep wounds while his face had been crushed with stones.”Gandhi’s wife was living with her father, and Gandhi had gone to bring her back. Jagdev was reportedly reluctant to send his daughter with Gandhi, leading to a serious altercation, sources said.“We have been informed about the domestic strife. The real motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. The post-mortem examination was conducted at the MMCH, Daltonganj. Hunt is under way for the accused,” said a police officer.Dismissing reports that the killing followed a drunken brawl, police said no liquor bottle was found at the spot.
