Murder case after father alleges foul play in boy’s fatal fall in condo

Noida: A man has sought a fresh probe into the death of his 12-year-old son, alleging he was assaulted and strangled before being thrown from a high-rise in Greater Noida. Days after the boy fell to his death, a murder case was registered on the family’s allegations that crucial injuries were not adequately recorded in the autopsy report. The father sought a detailed examination of the autopsy video and other footage to establish what happened. In a complaint at Surajpur police station, Tarun Kumar Dhaka, a resident of Design Arch E-Homes in UPSIDC Site C, flagged discrepancies in the report and sought an impartial investigation. He alleged that several injuries on the child’s body had either been omitted or insufficiently documented. The injuries listed in the complaint included abrasions and impact marks on both knees, marks resembling fingernail scratches on the chest, a fracture in the right elbow and a serious spinal injury. Dhaka also pointed to deep marks resembling a bite on the ankle and bluish marks around the neck, which he claimed could indicate strangulation.According to the complaint, the incident occurred at Tower E of the society between 8am and 8.15am on Oct 24. Dhaka claimed video footage showed the boy falling on his back from a height, allegedly from an upper floor or the terrace. He argued that the injuries warranted scrutiny to determine whether the child had been assaulted before the fall. The father suspected that the boy had been strangled and attacked with a sharp or pointed object before being thrown from the building to make the death appear accidental. Dhaka urged police to examine the autopsy video and available footage, reconstruct the sequence of events and establish the cause of death. The FIR was registered under sections 103 (murder) and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.A senior police officer said a thorough investigation was underway and further action would depend on its findings. On Saturday morning, a 12-year-old Class 8 student, Ranvijay Dhaka, died after falling from the 12th floor of a residential tower at Design Arch Society in Site C, Surajpur, under suspicious circumstances. His family rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Ranvijay lived with his family in C – Tower of the society. His father, Tarun Kumar Dhaka, is an architect. The boy reportedly left home around 8am on his bicycle, saying he was going out to play, before falling from the 12th floor of Tower E.Police examined CCTV footage from the society, which showed Ranvijay entering a lift alone and getting off on the 12th floor. He was then seen walking with his eyes fixed on his mobile phone, with no other person visible around him in the footage. His bicycle was found parked below the tower. Police are investigating why he went to the 12th floor and what happened after he reached there. The police are also examining his mobile phone. According to his family, the device did not have a SIM card and was primarily used to listen to music over a Wi-Fi connection. Investigators are analysing CCTV footage, mobile phone data, the postmortem report and other evidence to establish the circumstances leading to his death.Police said the exact cause remained unclear and further action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
