Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is all set to woo global business leaders with its renewed FDI pitch at the upcoming Global Investors Summit 2027. The fresh push for investments are aimed at drawing business interest from global corporate majors in technology-intensive sectors after building a foreign investment pipeline of about Rs 28,000 crore from 10 companies across eight countries in nearly one and a half years. As part of preparations leading up to the big-ticket event, investor engagements are being planned in Dubai, South Korea and Singapore in the coming months. The state govt is looking at Japanese and South Korean companies in electronics, automobiles and batteries, UK firms in pharmaceuticals and medical devices and US and European investors in data centres and technology. Renewable energy, semiconductors, telecom equipment, food processing and advanced manufacturing are also on the radar.“We have planned overseas engagements in Dubai, South Korea and Singapore with FDI as a key focus in the coming months. We already have a strong pipeline of foreign investors whose projects are moving towards implementation and the effort now is to bring more global companies and technology-intensive investments to Madhya Pradesh in the run-up to GIS 2027,” MPIDC managing director Chandramauli Shukla said.Officials said the focus is increasingly on investments that bring advanced technology, export linkages, skilled jobs and integration with global supply chains, rather than capital commitments alone.According to MPIDC data, foreign investment projects worth more than Rs 28,200 crore are at various stages of grounding in the state. The pipeline includes Spain-based Submer’s Rs 19,000 crore AI-ready data centre project near Bhopal, McCain Foods’ Rs 3,800 crore food processing project in Agar Malwa, Haleon’s Rs 3,000 crore pharmaceutical project and Toppan Specialty Films’ Rs 1,100 crore investment at Pithampur.Other projects span renewable energy, leather and footwear, medical devices, pharmaceuticals and textiles across Narmadapuram, Gwalior, Ujjain and Bhopal.Several foreign-backed projects are also moving towards production post land allotment. Clinisupplies and Effibar are nearing commencement of operations in the Ujjain region, while Rich Products and PepsiCo have already commissioned facilities. VE Commercial Vehicles, the Volvo Group-Eicher Motors joint venture, is also developing its new facility at Vikram Udyogpuri.“We are also in talks with a few more companies and are actively pursuing new investment proposals. With more industries showing interest, we are simultaneously looking at expansion of industrial areas and creation of additional infrastructure to accommodate upcoming projects,” said Rajesh Rathod, executive director, MPIDC, Ujjain.Officials said progress of these projects will form part of MP’s pitch to prospective foreign investors, with the state showcasing availability of industrial land, sector-specific clusters, infrastructure and project facilitation. The FDI push also comes at the time when the Centre is considering easing approval norms for large foreign investments. Under the existing policy, proposals involving foreign equity inflow of more than Rs 5,000 crore are placed before the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, while proposals below the threshold are decided by respective line ministries. The Centre is considering raising the CCEA approval threshold to Rs 15,000 crore.GIS 2027 is proposed to be held in Bhopal in January, with domestic and international investor outreach planned in the run-up to the summit.
