NBA legend Michael Jordan’s latest luxury real estate project is beginning to take shape in North Carolina, with new aerial images offering a first look at his custom-built lakefront mansion.The six-time NBA champion’s new estate is being constructed on the shores of Lake Norman in Cornelius, North Carolina, inside the exclusive Peninsula Club golf community. The property is being rebuilt after Jordan’s family trust demolished the previous mansion on the site in 2025.

According to reports, the Jordan Family Gift Trust purchased the property for $2.8 million in 2013. The original residence reportedly featured six bedrooms, eight bathrooms and a private pier before being demolished in March 2025.Recent aerial photographs, published by the Daily Mail, show the new home progressing significantly. The main structure and roof appear to be complete, suggesting that work on the exterior and finishing stages could be next.

The mansion also enjoys a striking location within the prestigious golf community. One of the images shows what appears to be a tee box and fairway immediately outside the property, highlighting its access to both the lake and golf course.

Michael Jordan owns several luxury properties across the US
The new Lake Norman mansion is only one part of Michael Jordan’s impressive property portfolio.In Charlotte, Jordan owns a roughly 7,000-square-foot luxury residence in Uptown. The home was created by combining two top-floor penthouse condominiums that he purchased in 2010 for $3.15 million.His largest known residence is in Jupiter, Florida, where he owns a sprawling compound within Jack Nicklaus’ Bear’s Club community. The centrepiece is a custom-built estate measuring approximately 28,000 square feet, complete with athletic facilities and a private basketball court.Jordan expanded his holdings in the South Florida community in 2024 when he reportedly paid $17 million for a second nearby mansion. The approximately 9,100-square-foot property features five bedrooms.Before establishing his enormous Jupiter compound, Jordan and his wife Yvette Prieto purchased a more modest three-bedroom suburban property in Miami for around $281,000 in 2008.
From Utah to Chicago and his iconic Highland Park estate
Jordan’s real estate history also includes properties outside Florida and North Carolina.He previously owned a 9,500-square-foot contemporary mountain retreat in Park City, Utah. Purchased for $7.9 million in 2007, the property overlooked Glenwild Golf Club before Jordan sold it in late 2020.During his dominant years with the Chicago Bulls, Jordan lived in an approximately 8,000-square-foot luxury penthouse overlooking Lake Michigan. The property was later transferred to his former wife Juanita Vanoy following their 2006 divorce and was sold in 2014.His most recognisable former residence is the sprawling Champions Point estate in Highland Park, Illinois. The approximately 56,000-square-foot property became famous for its distinctive No. 23 entrance gate and remained on the market for 12 years before finally selling for $9.5 million in December 2024.
