Jaipur: Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) mayor Sunil Kothari Thursday launched a ward-wise special cleanliness drive ahead of Diwali, with 78 tonnes of garbage and over 35 tonnes of construction and demolition (C&D) waste cleared from Ward 112 on the first day.The campaign, titled ‘Ward-wise Swachhata Utsav’, began at 7am from Badi Chaupar where Kothari administered a cleanliness pledge to sanitation workers and took up a broom himself.The mayor also inspected sanitation arrangements in various wards. Door-to-door waste collection will be conducted using 20 hoppers, 200 sanitation workers, three JCBs, eight tractors and other machinery.Kothari said the objective was not merely to sweep roads but to make public spaces completely organised and clean.The campaign will continue ward-wise across all zones till Diwali. Under the plan, at least 50% of the sanitation workforce and available mechanical resources in each zone will be deployed in the selected ward for effective cleaning.
