Man’s mutilated body found hanging from tree in Madhubani; mother alleges murder over affair

Patna: The body of a 25-year-old man was found hanging from a tree with mutilated private parts near a pond in the Benipatti police station area of Madhubani district on Wednesday morning. The family alleged he was killed and his body was then hanged by the girl’s family over a love affair.Villagers spotted the body hanging from a sheesham tree near the pond and alerted the family. Police have detained his girlfriend and her two minor brothers for questioning.The deceased was identified as Pulinder Paswan, son of Janki Devi. She alleged her son was in a relationship with a village girl whose marriage had already been fixed, though the two continued to meet. When the girl’s family came to know, they allegedly called Pulinder on Tuesday night.“He left home around midnight to meet her. They beat him, mutilated his private parts and killed him,” Janki alleged.To avoid suspicion, the body was hanged from a tree near a pond about 800 metres from his house.Janki claimed Pulinder had been receiving death threats for several days and had grown disturbed. “After the girl’s marriage was fixed, he mostly stayed home. They killed my son brutally. Police should take strict action,” she said.Benipatti SDPO Amit Kumar said police reached the spot after being alerted by villagers. “There were deep wound marks on both legs. A black mark was found on the neck. The body was hanging from a sheesham tree with a black dupatta,” he said.The body has been sent to Darbhanga for post-mortem. “The family has alleged murder over an affair. We are investigating from all angles. The girl and her two minor brothers have been detained,” Kumar added.Pulinder worked as a mason and supported his family through daily-wage labour. His father, Teju Paswan, is also a labourer. He was the eldest among three sisters and two brothers.
