Lucknow: A 29-year-old contractual worker was lured to a meeting by his girlfriend and then strangled in a sugarcane field as part of a conspiracy involving five persons, including the woman’s aunt, cousin and cousin’s boyfriend, police said.Ddeceased Yashwant Kumar, a resident of Khadauwa in the Nagar Bazar area, worked with a corporation in UP. His body was recovered from bushes near Dhamoura in the Walterganj area, while his motorcycle was found nearly 30 km away near an under-construction toll plaza in the Dubaulia area.Circle officer Mansi Dahiya, said the post-mortem examination confirmed that Yashwant had been strangled. Following a complaint by his brother, police initially registered a case against unidentified persons.According to police, technical evidence and surveillance helped investigators establish the involvement of five persons. They were identified as Yashwant’s girlfriend Gudiya, her sister Sheela, their aunt Sona Devi, Sona’s daughter Reema, and Reema’s boyfriend Ramlalit Chaudhary.Police have arrested Sona Devi and Ramlalit Chaudhary, who were reportedly trying to flee to Lucknow when they were apprehended near the Amhat highway turn. Efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused. During interrogation, Ramlalit told police that he was in a relationship with Reema. Sona Devi allegedly said Gudiya had been in a relationship with Yashwant, but the two had developed differences.Police said Yashwant had allegedly recorded an objectionable video of Gudiya after making her consume alcohol and subsequently used it to blackmail her. According to investigators, he allegedly interfered with her marriage plans and used the video to disrupt proposed alliances. Police said the accused subsequently hatched a plan to eliminate Yashwant. According to the investigation, Gudiya called him and asked him to meet her.At around 9 pm, Gudiya and Sheela allegedly took Yashwant to a sugarcane field located about 300 metres from their house. Sona Devi, Reema and Ramlalit followed them. Police said Reema grabbed Yashwant by his collar from behind, causing him to fall on his back. The other accused allegedly restrained him to prevent him from escaping.Investigators said Ramlalit and Reema then allegedly strangled Yashwant while Sona Devi, Gudiya and Sheela restrained him by sitting on his chest. He died shortly afterwards.After the murder, Ramlalit and Reema allegedly placed Yashwant’s body on his motorcycle and transported it around 20 kilometres away. Police said Reema held the body from behind while Ramlalit rode the motorcycle.The two allegedly left the body concealed beside a road near a canal before returning. Reema then travelled on Yashwant’s motorcycle via Padiya crossing towards Kaptanganj and reached Sona Devi’s house in Kaudikol. Ramlalit subsequently left Reema and the motorcycle there and returned home.
