Sivaganga: A 35-year-old man was found murdered near the Konthagai irrigation tank close to Keeladi in Sivaganga district on Monday.According to police, locals noticed the body lying near the tank and alerted authorities. Police rushed to the spot and found the victim dead with a slit on his throat.Sivaganga district superintendent of police Abishek Gupta also visited the crime scene and conducted an inspection. Fingerprint experts and a sniffer dog squad were pressed into service to collect evidence and trace the suspects.Preliminary inquiries identified the deceased as Ganesan, a native of Thanakkanpudur near Madurai district. Police said he had reportedly come to nearby Pasiyapuram on Sunday to attend an ear-piercing ceremony.Investigators are probing whether the murder was linked to previous enmity or any other motive. A special team has been formed to identify and apprehend those responsible.The body was recovered and sent to the government hospital for postmortem examination.
