UTTARKASHI: A 65-year-old tourist from Maharashtra has gone missing after falling into a gorge approximately 130 meters deep near Kachhidhang, beyond Chirbasa, on the Gangotri-Gomukh trek route.According to a report from the District Emergency Operation Center, the incident occurred on September 25.The missing tourist has been identified as Ramkumar Hanuman Gupta, a resident of Rajgarh, Maharashtra. He was part of a five-member group traveling from Gangotri towards Gomukh.On Saturday, a team comprising 18 personnel—including six from the SDRF, four from Nepal, four from the Forest Department, and two police personnel—was dispatched to the site.The teams have reached the location and are actively searching for the missing tourist.However, the search and rescue operation has been hampered by inclement weather and continuous rain. The search effort will be intensified once weather conditions improve.According to the disaster control room, there is currently no trace of the missing tourist.The rescue operation is being continuously monitored in coordination with the relevant departments.
