The trailer of ‘Hi’ has added fresh interest to the upcoming romantic entertainer, which brings together Kavin and Nayanthara for the first time. Directed by Vishnu Edavan, the film has been receiving attention for its light-hearted approach and unusual storyline. Now, the project has received a special word of encouragement from one of the director’s closest mentors.
Lokesh Kanagaraj says ‘Hi’ director Vishnu Edavan has made him proud
Lokesh Kanagaraj took to X (formerly Twitter) after watching the ‘Hi’ trailer and congratulated Vishnu Edavan on his directorial debut. Sharing the trailer announcement, Lokesh Kanagaraj wrote, “You’ve made me proud da @VishnuEdavan1.” The short message carried added significance because Vishnu had worked with Lokesh Kanagaraj as an associate director on several of his films, including ‘Kaithi’, ‘Master’ and ‘Vikram’. Lokesh Kanagaraj’s appreciation has now become another talking point surrounding ‘Hi’, especially as Vishnu Edavan takes his first step as a director.
‘Hi’ trailer introduces Kavin and Nayanthara’s unusual love story
The trailer introduces Kavin as Mayilsamy, a timid man who appears to have little direction in life apart from his desire to find love. K Bhagyaraj plays his father and is seen giving him an interesting perspective on marriage and relationships. Mayilsamy’s life takes a turn when he falls for Devyani, played by Nayanthara. However, his proposal does not go as planned. The trailer shows Devyani questioning his decision to take an extreme step after being rejected, giving the film a mix of humour, emotion and social commentary. The glimpse suggests that the story will focus on relationships and the different ways people understand love.
Kavin and Nayanthara’s ‘Hi’ set for August 28 release
‘Hi’ was initially scheduled to arrive in theatres on August 14 but was later postponed to August 28. The film has been cleared by the Censor Board with a U/A certificate and is being positioned as a family entertainer. The story reportedly moves across Chennai, Coimbatore and Pollachi and is said to avoid a conventional villain-driven plot. Along with Kavin and Nayanthara, the cast includes K Bhagyaraj, Radhika Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Sathyan, Adithya Kathir and Kureishi. Vishnu Edavan has written and directed the film, while Jen Martin has composed the music. Rajesh Shukla handles cinematography, and Philomin Raj is the editor. With Lokesh Kanagaraj’s praise now adding to the buzz, ‘Hi’ is heading towards its release, with expectations around Vishnu’s debut and the fresh pairing of Kavin and Nayanthara.
