Biharsharif: Nalanda police on Thursday cracked a kidnapping case within six hours, rescuing a 22-year-old man safely and arresting a woman involved in the conspiracy after a coordinated overnight operation. The swift action involved multiple police teams from Rajgir, Giriak, Katrisarai, Nalanda and Silao police stations.Rajgir SDPO Sunil Kumar Singh said the case came to light around 10pm on Wednesday when Pawapuri police were alerted by Sheikhpura police about the abduction of Vikram Kumar, a resident of Panchi village in Sheikhpura district. He was allegedly kidnapped near Chorsua Mor under the Pawapuri police station area in Nalanda. The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of Rs 6 lakh from his father, Sagar Ravidas, but later reduced the amount to Rs 2 lakh during negotiations.Following the alert, a special police team was formed and raids were launched. Around 2am on Thursday, police arrested Sandhya Kumari, but the victim’s whereabouts remained unknown as the abductors continued to press for ransom. Police then devised a strategy, sending the victim’s father to deliver the ransom at the designated spot while officers discreetly followed. Sensing police presence, the kidnappers abandoned Vikram near the Giriak flyover and fled.The victim was rescued safely early Thursday. During questioning, Vikram revealed he knew Sandhya through Instagram, pointing to a relationship angle. Sandhya later confessed to plotting the kidnapping with her boyfriend Raja Gop and an associate, Sonu alias Natu, to extort money. She has been sent to jail, while police continue raids to nab the remaining accused.
