Iran has mocked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the United Nations General Assembly, comparing him to fictional villains from Harry Potter and Game of Thrones.The Iranian Embassy in Armenia shared a picture of the Night King, the central villain from Game of Thrones, alongside a caption referring to Netanyahu as “The Lord of Darkness Benjamin Netanyahu in the UN”.The Iranian Embassy in Ghana also targeted Netanyahu with a reference to Harry Potter. Sharing a picture of Lord Voldemort, it wrote: “Today at the UN, the Dark Lord lectured the world on morality. Even the Death Eaters walked out.”The posts came after dozens of delegates walked out of the UN General Assembly hall as Netanyahu began his address, in which he fiercely defended Israel’s military campaigns in Iran, Gaza and elsewhere in the Middle East.Netanyahu vowed to continue fighting despite the walkout, saying: “We’re going to win. We have no other choice.”Addressing those who remained in the hall, he said: “If there are any other moral cowards who haven’t left the hall, please do so now.”The Israeli prime minister also rejected accusations that Israel was committing genocide in Gaza.Hours earlier, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas told the UN that Israeli policies, including the expansion of Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank, threatened “the very life and existence of the Palestinian people on their homeland”.Abbas also accused Israel of subjecting Palestinians to “killing, destruction, starvation and attempts at displacement, as well as a genocidal war” in Gaza.
