Ghaziabad: Residents of several highrise societies in Indirapuram met under the banner of the federation of apartment owners associations (AOA) on Sunday to discuss civic and safety issues affecting the area.The meeting, held at ATS Advantage, was attended by representatives of societies including Angel Mercury, Amrapali Village, Jaipuria Sunrise, Lotus Pond, Shipra Neo, Shipra Suncity, Shipra Shristi, Rajhans and ATS Advantage.Among the key concerns were encroachment in and around residential societies, inadequate public transport, fire safety in older buildings and poor civic infrastructure. Residents sought administrative support to remove illegal encroachments from common areas and improve metro connectivity, city bus services and feeder services in Indirapuram.Fire safety was another major concern, particularly in older societies. Residents sought upgrades to fire safety systems and a simpler process for obtaining fire NOCs.The meeting also focused on issues common to the area, including traffic congestion, waterlogging, low-hanging power lines, damaged roads, sewerage and drainage. Residents said they would work with the administration to address these problems.Members also sought a policy for repair and repainting of societies more than 15 years old, along with regular maintenance of ageing lifts and strict adherence to safety standards.Federation secretary Avneesh Kumar said members had decided to prepare a memorandum listing their demands and submit it to the district magistrate, Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), municipal corporation, electricity department and deputy registrar.“We have decided to present these issues collectively and seek a meeting with the administration at the earliest,” said Kumar, who is also the AOA president of Angel Mercury.Rohit Gupta, a federation member and resident of Shipra Neo and Suncity, said residents would also seek better implementation of single-point UPPCL connections, building repairs, access to clean drinking water, sanitation and waste disposal.
