Lyricist-composer Prashant Ingole, known for penning popular songs for films such as Bajirao Mastani (“Malhari”), Mary Kom (“Ziddi Dil”) and 83, has collaborated with Cuban singer-songwriter and musician Descemer Bueno for his first Indo-Spanish track. Bueno is best known for co-writing Enrique Iglesias’ global hit “Bailando”.Calling the collaboration “pure magic”, Ingole says the track came together through an unexpected encounter. “It was pure magic working with Descemer. Been a fan of the song Bailando for a long time and I am sure there are many fans of that song. However, post covid I just wrote and composed this song and wrote the whole song in Hindi. Got it produced and sung on a scratch level. Magic happened when I ran into someone at a Party and he told me I know the writer/composer of Bailando Descemer Bueno.”The connection soon turned into a collaboration, with Bueno adding Spanish lyrics and vocals to the track and bringing singer Flori on board for the female portions. “Descemer loved the song and said yes to collaborate on it with his magical touch of Spanish lyrics and vocals. Descemer got Flori on board to sing the female parts,” Ingole adds.A longtime admirer of Latin music, Ingole says his interest goes beyond simply incorporating a new sound into his music. “I have always loved Spanish and latin music. Learnt Salsa and Bachata and felt the soul stirring connection. There are things beyond our imagination which are working non-stop around us and that’s what made me write this song and got Descemer to be a part of it.”‘I AM BACK WITH A BEAUTIFUL VENGEANCE’Despite having worked on major Bollywood projects, Ingole has maintained a relatively low profile in the Hindi film music space in recent years. He attributes that distance to his insistence on choosing projects that resonate with him creatively.“I have always been a pioneer, loved quality over quantity. The whole Bollywood rhythm has changed post covid. Didn’t connect with the right projects to be a part of besides I have been working on few of my scripts to be Directed soon. That’s what Distanced me for a while. I am back with a beautiful vengeance,” he says.Ingole also maintains that the challenges surrounding the industry have not deterred him from staying true to his work. “There are Issues everywhere, all around us, however they never impacted me. I kept on doing my work sincerely and for the past decade gave few rare gems which still resonate on everyone’s playlist. I guess honest people with integrity will face issues anyways especially if they are black & white and up to speak the truth bluntly.”
