Chandigarh: Haryana has lined up rural infrastructure projects worth Rs 2,295.2 crore for 2026-27 and is seeking Rs 2,180.5 crore in assistance from NABARD’s Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). The proposals focus on water security, renewable energy and climate-resilient infrastructure.Chief secretary Anurag Rastogi reviewed the proposals and ongoing NABARD-funded projects on Monday, directing departments to speed up execution and submit claims in line with physical and financial progress.The six priority proposals include an irrigation project costing Rs 315.3 crore, 57 road projects worth Rs 495.7 crore, and a Rs 744.5 crore drinking-water scheme for five Mahagram villages — Bichore, Bisru, Nai, Singar and Pingawan — in Nuh and Palwal.The drinking-water project envisages Ranney wells and allied infrastructure in the Yamuna floodplain. It has been split into phases, with finance department approval awaited for the first phase, estimated to cost Rs 299 crore.A Rs 290.7 crore warehousing proposal aims to add 2,30,508 MT of new storage capacity and rebuild storage facilities with a capacity of 1,23,664 MT in low-lying areas. NABARD assistance of Rs 276.20 crore has been proposed for the project.The review also flagged a Rs 962.8 crore gap in disbursements for certain ongoing RIDF projects as of Aug 17, prompting departments to accelerate implementation and submission of claims.Haryana has received approval to borrow Rs 2,300 crore from NABARD in 2026-27. With expected disbursements of around Rs 1,600 crore under RIDF and the Micro Irrigation Fund, the state is also examining additional projects for financing under NABARD’s Rural Infrastructure Assistance to State Govts (RIAS), NABARD Infrastructure Development Assistance (NIDA) and its green lending facility.One such proposal is HAREDA’s plan to solarise govt and public buildings, for which around Rs 423 crore in NABARD assistance is being sought.The state is also exploring NABARD funding for its Rs 5,714 crore Water Secure Haryana programme, which includes groundwater recharge, irrigation efficiency, rejuvenation of water bodies, micro-irrigation and reuse of treated wastewater.Meanwhile, four irrigation projects worth Rs 2,068.3 crore have been identified for possible financing under RIAS/NIDA.
