Lucknow: A fire broke out in a tin-shed store room of a residential building in Vikas Nagar area on Sunday morning, destroying a refrigerator, foodgrains and other household articles before being brought under control by the fire department.According to the fire department, the control room at Indira Nagar fire station received information about the blaze at around 8.40 am. Acting swiftly, the officer-in-charge of the fire station rushed to the spot with two fire tenders, while additional fire engines from Bakshi-ka-Talab (BKT) and Hazratganj fire stations were also dispatched to assist in the firefighting operation.Upon reaching the scene, firefighters found flames engulfing a store room on the upper floor of the house, with thick smoke billowing out through the windows.

Fire personnel immediately launched firefighting operations using motor fire engines and began dousing the blaze.Officials said the operation was challenging as the store room, constructed with a tin shed, was packed with stored household items. Firefighters had to remove and sift through the material while simultaneously extinguishing hidden pockets of fire to prevent the flames from spreading.After sustained efforts, the blaze was completely brought under control, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building. The fire department later identified the property owner as Varsha, wife of Saurabh, a resident of Sector 6/669, Vikas Nagar. Preliminary information indicated that the fire originated in the tin-shed store room on the upper floor of the house.The incident damaged a refrigerator, foodgrains and other household belongings stored in the room. No casualties or injuries were reported. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and further assessment of the damage is underway.
