Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 50-year-old farmer and his son (13) were killed after a wall of a farm shed collapsed during heavy rainstorm in Adgaon Khurd village of Phulambri taluka on Friday evening. The farmer’s seven-year-old nephew, however, escaped with serious injuries.The deceased have been identified as Tarachand Hiralal Jonwal and his son Aniket. The injured, Aarush Shivalal Jonwal, has been shifted to the Govt Medical College and Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for treatment.Residents said Jonwal had gone to his agricultural field with Aniket and Aarush to check on their goats when a sudden spell of heavy rain, accompanied by strong gusty winds, struck the area between 7.30pm and 8pm. “The powerful winds caused a wall of the shed to collapse, trapping all three under the debris,” a villager said, adding that nearby residents rushed to the spot and initiated a rescue operation. “All three were pulled out and taken to the rural hospital in Phulambri,” the villager said.Doctors declared Jonwal and Aniket dead on arrival, while Aarush, who suffered severe injuries, was referred to Ghati Hospital for further treatment. Subsequently, a team from the Vadod Bazar police station visited the spot and conducted a panchnama. Further investigation into the incident was under way, police said.The villagers said Aniket was Jonwal’s only son.
