Eight-month-pregnant woman held in Kanpur Dehat for bank fraud through mobile hacking

Kanpur: Kanpur Dehat police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested an eight-month-pregnant woman on charges of cyber fraud, alleging she hacked mobile phones and siphoned money from victims’ bank accounts by sending malicious links. The accused has been identified as Rukhsana, wife of Mohammad Arif, a resident of Makarandpur Kahinjari in the Rasoolabad area, said crime branch inspector Shailendra Singh.“A case has been registered against her under relevant legal provisions,” Singh said.Investigators alleged that Rukhsana targeted people by sharing links to the AnyDesk app.Police said that after victims clicked the link and entered information, bank-related details were obtained and funds were transferred to the account of the accused. The arrest followed a complaint filed by a local resident. Police later registered a case on their own based on the findings.Officials said complaints linked to the same number were also submitted on the National Cyber Reporting Platform (NCRP) from Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand. Police are examining call records and the numbers to which links were sent to determine the total number of victims and the amount allegedly stolen.
