Jenna Dewan gets ready for her routine with Alan Bersten
Taking to her Instagram stories section, ‘The Rookie’ actress shared a sneak peek into what she and Bersten had planned for the coming episode. She started off the video by saying, “Hi everybody. It’s Dedication Night, and we are dancing a Viennese waltz to ‘Unchained Melody’ by the Righteous Brothers, the greatest, most romantic song ever.”In the rehearsal video, Dewan also shared that she was dedicating her upcoming performance to her mother and that she was extremely excited about showing it off to everyone when the time comes. Dedication Night is the special theme for the upcoming episode, during which contestants will perform dances that they have dedicated to someone who has had a meaningful impact in their lives. May it be parents, a spouse, their children, or a close friend, the theme is all about giving a special someone in your life a shoutout through your performance.
What happened to Jenna Dewan’s original partner, Val Chmerkovskiy?
Chmerkovskiy’s suspension from the show came after he shared a post online criticizing one of the judges on ‘DWTS,’ Carrie Ann Imbada, and her comment about his wife, Jenna Thompson, and her celebrity partner’s routine. In a post made on social media, which has since been deleted, Val said, “You almost saw the Fresh Prince enter the ballroom last night,” while defending his wife’s routine. He seemingly referenced the 2022 Oscar incident where Will Smith slapped Chris Rock live on stage after he joked about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.Taking to his Instagram stories, Val then apologized for his behavior and wrote a public apology to fans and to Carrie Ann. He wrote, “I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart for my recent post. I have reached out to Carrie Ann to apologize directly and personally, and I also want to apologize publicly, as I understand my words affect so many outside of our internal DWTS family.” He also added in the lengthy post, “I am truly sorry to Carrie Ann and everyone who I hurt with my careless post. I will do better moving forward.”He also addressed his absence from the show and stated in the post that he did not wish for the situation to ‘overshadow’ the contestants. “The last thing I want is to become a distraction from an important week or from the incredible work my dance partner Jenna Dewan is putting in. Please send Carrie Ann, Jenna, and the whole DTWS family lots of love during Dedication Night. I’ll be watching and cheering everyone on!!” he wrote. In his absence, Alan Bersten has temporarily joined the show to be Dewan’s partner for the week after he got eliminated in the second week.
