Tamil films including Karthik Subbaraj’s rural drama ‘Dorothy’ continued to see the same box office numbers yesterday as on Monday. Meanwhile, Hiphop Tamizha Adhi’s ‘Meesaya Murukku 2’ saw a drop compared to its previous days’ collections. ‘Dorothy’ day 5 collections
‘Dorothy’ starring Keerthy Suresh, Sananth and Rishikanth in leading roles collected Rs 85 lakh net in India on Monday, according to trade analyst Sacnilk. The figure was recorded across 831 shows. The movie registered 34.99% overall occupancy on its fifth day.Speaking of day wise collections, the film opened to Rs 90 lakh at the box office. Later the numbers increased to Rs 1.25 crore and then to Rs 1.40 crore, making its first weekend total Rs 3.55 crore. On Monday the film made Rs 85 lakh and added another Rs 85 lakh, bringing the total India net collection to Rs 5.25 crore and total India gross collections to Rs 6.15 crore.
‘Dorothy’ occupancy
The Tamil 2D version of ‘Dorothy’ recorded 34.99% overall occupancy on Tuesday. Morning shows registered 18.54% occupancy. The figure increased to 33.77% during afternoon shows. Evening shows recorded 38.92% occupancy. Night shows followed with 45.38%.‘Dorothy’ marks Karthik Subbaraj’s 10th feature film as a director. Ilaiyaraaja composed the original soundtrack and background score of the film.
‘Meesaya Murukku 2’ day 5 collections
On the other hand, Hiphop Tamizha Adhi’s ‘Meesaya Murukku 2’ witnessed a decline in numbers from Monday’s collections. According to Sacnilk, the movie collected Rs 2.35 crore net total across 1,660 shows on Tuesday. The Day 5 figure was an 11.3% decrease from Monday’s Rs 2.65 crore.On its first day, the film made over Rs 3.30 crore. Later on Saturday the film’s performance improved significantly as it made Rs 4.80 crore and Rs 6.25 crore on Sunday, totaling Rs 14.35 crore over the weekend. On Monday, the film collected Rs 2.65 crore and added Rs 2.35 crore, bringing the total India net collections to Rs 19.35 crore.The film has also performed well internationally, making over Rs 4.75 crore overseas so far, which brings the total worldwide gross collection to Rs 27.35 crore.
‘Meesaya Murukku 2’ occupancy
The Tamil 2D version of the film recorded 37.83% overall occupancy on Monday. Morning shows registered 20.85% occupancy. The figure increased to 35.38% during afternoon shows.
