Cyberattack shuts down internet fan fiction library

One of the world’s most popular fan fiction libraries has been offline for over a week after a cyberattack, denying millions of fans access to their favourite stories. Archive of Our Own, known as AO3, has displayed a maintenance message since Oct 29. Launched in 2008, the platform has over 11 million registered users and nearly 18 million works. Operator Organization for Transformative Works said it did not believe its user database, containing usernames, email IDs and passwords, was stolen, but could not rule this out. It hopes to restore AO3 in a month.
